Embodying Autonomy
[Somatic Practice Space]
Saturday, April 5th
12-2pm Central
with denim d chang
This workshop has been rescheduled.
Too often and out of necessity within a coercive culture of dominance and oppression, we yield our sovereignty. Many of us are conditioned to fawning or what is known as ‘people-pleasing’, as a learned attempt at relational safety, but often at the cost of our needs, limits or desires. Beyond verbalizing our boundaries, embodied autonomy is the practice of feeling our internalized power and capacity for choice and change. Autonomy as self-governance goes beyond a concept when we begin to understand what it feels like to have and enact upon it, and be able to listen internally for cues on what it takes to create relational safety.
In this session, we will explore what embodied autonomy means from the somatic perspective, and will engage in a communal and relational practice to gather feltsense information about our current capacity for embodied autonomy, as a liberatory skill and condition. Participants will be invited to share their perspective and struggles around autonomy within our current relationships, culture and political climate. The experiences of QTBIPOC will always be centered.
Liberation in Iterations
Donations-based drop in space for anyone who wants to engage in a consistent practice and develop the relationship to their nervous system and spiritual embodiment inside of liberatory work.
